PHL Part 2: Thrifting! Second Time Around + The Wardrobe Boutique

Hullo all,

After Karen and I had our super yummy and overindulgent brunch at The Golden Standard Cafe, we hopped on a trolley and headed to our first stop: Second Time Around.

I know, I know-- "Mishie, you're in Philly, you should check out historical and cultural sights instead of going shopping!" I hear you! But this is how it is, folks!

The colors were so bright! I get so excited when I see a lot of color. I just want to put as much of it as I can into my life.

Second Time Around was definitely a less thrift-shop looking thrift shop (haha!) because everything was set up to feel like a boutique with a lot of one of a kind items.

GPOY--looking at myself in the mirror. Little known fact that I am willing to admit, I'm always sneaking a peek at any mirror around me. But then again, who doesn't nowadays!

WALL OF SHOES. I will be the first to confess that I have become quite obsessive with shoes in the last two years. If you told me three years ago that I would be lusting after shoes, I would throw one right at you. I think I now need a shelf like this in my life!

Karen almost knelt on the wet sidewalk to take this photo of me while we waited for the bus to our next destination. This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip! Lol, I'm biased.

I love all the angles of the buildings in Philly. Some of them look really old and historical right next to these more modern ones.

We made it to The Wardrobe Boutique!

Proof of how windy/rainy it was that day! It was so funny that I captured this moment!

We actually just found this place through Yelp (it's amazing how many places you discover through that app, to be honest!) and we thought we'd give it a shot.

I quite liked the idea of a boutique-like thrift store, but all in all, I think the fashions in this one were definitely not for my age group.

Do you like to go thrift-shopping? Maybe if you live in the PHL area you can share with me more spots for when I visit again!

Catching Up

Hullo All!

I believe you all know that I have a lot of catching up (blogging up?) to do thanks to NaNoWriMo.
(ノ_ _)ノ

So it looks like I'll be posting frequently during this first part of December! I definitely think that's a good thing. With the holidays coming up, there are more things to see and do--so I can't wait!

We were going to pick up my new phone so that people can start contacting me again! I have to be honest, I was (and still am) enjoying the novelty of being disconnected (at least, mobile-wise. I'm obviously still active on the Internet when I'm at home), but it feels good that I can new go around the city on my own since I have something to contact my parents with. :)

But we also went around to look for winterwear (and post-halloween sales)! It's already getting colder by the day. And since we were bound for a trip soon for Thanksgiving, we had to stop by for some things for the trip.

Adding some color into my wardrobe! I love the darker colors of autumn, but I try to add more reds and oranges so I don't look too doom and gloom. (`ε´)

I really terrible at getting other details of my outfit. Oh the woes of being your own "model"/"photographer."

But check out these feather details! I'm not entirely sure if I've shared this top before, but I'm not big into large feather prints. This is my first and I guess I couldn't stay away from the soft fabric or these colors!

I wasn't a big fan of my mom's orangey-yellow scarf either a few years ago, but I totally gravitate towards it now!

Shades are a gray area for me. I can never really confidently say whether I look good in them or not. "They never seem to fit my nose right"--that's something that Flynn Rider might say.

Yep, I'm ever the classy one.

Mandatory "oh, I didn't see you there because of my shades" photo.
(I'm such a loser. *・_・)ノ⌒*

Admittedly, I didn't get to take a lot of photos while shopping. I'm never good at restraining myself from being engrossed in shopping!

I did, however, spot this adorable Christmas tree! While and purple with hints of gold and blue? You got me!

Hello cute little purple birdie! Can I take you and your tree home?

One of the reasons why I shop. :)) I'm a cheap, cheap vulture.

Rainbow-colored candy canes!

Trivia: candy-canes are my go-to gift for Christmas when it comes to acquaintances like teachers, other classmates that I'm not too close with, orgmates. I believe everyone should get a gift for Christmas (from me) and so how can I go wrong with a sweet, minty treat? :)

There are pastel-colored ones, mother of all candies!

I believe this is my sole photo from when I was shopping for boots. We went into DSW and Payless. Alas, DSW was way beyond my budget, so Payless it was!

Up next is an Instagram mega post! If you want to follow me, you can! :)

Overdue Date

Hullo All!

So this is a bit of an overdue post. Because of all the excitement of our new place, I almost forgot to share with you guys this simple, nice lunch-date I had with Micah! :)

If you have been reading closely, you can probably surmise that Micah is one of my best friends. I'll admit that there are times that I get cross and feel like she forgets me (I'm clingy), but whenever I get a chance to sit down and spend time with her, all that disappears!

Presenting Micah! :) Yeah, you can say it, she's quite pretty!

Friends since the fifth grade!

We had lunch here! We're big fans of Japanese food and we're always up for a twist to it. Well, me more than Micah. She's a bit of a selective eater so when she suggested this, I was up for the new experience!

It was a quaint place that had all the vintage elements that make me feel all cozy!

Ma Maison is known for their huge Japanese-style Western burgers (yeah, I know). This one was as big as our entire hand, so we decided to split it.

We did get quite full from the burger but we also got this mini pizza! IT was just as good! Shrimp, mushroom and pepperoni!

And the piece de resistance

This is the main reason Micah wanted me to try Ma Maison--it's famous Frozen Green Tea Brazo! Micah's not a fan of Green Tea so this is a big deal for her. Meanwhile, I'm a big fan of Green Tea (and brazo!) so this got me all the right kinds of happy!

Unfortunately, Micah and I had to part after that (boo). But that didn't stop me from finding my own fun! And so, I went around the mall to look for a few things!

Have I ever mentioned how much I love notebooks?

Slouchy bags at Follow Your Heart! These are so colorful I wanted almost all of them! If only I had more room in my luggage (and more money)!

Ending this post with a narcissistic photo of me trying on two pairs of pretty pastel pants! Don't they match my floral top? :)

Which do you think I should get?
